    Born: December 3, 1895 in Harndrup, Odense, Denmark.

    Immigrated from Denmark in 1921. He was a carpenter and was headed for St. Louis, Missouri to meet his uncle Christian Rath.

    Parents: Rasmus Christian Bertelsen and Anna Marie Johanne Rath.

    Died: August 22, 1966 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

    Buried: Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, Iowa.

    Married: Edith Pedersen in 1936. She died on December 10, 2014 aged 100 years.

    Ordained: June 11, 1933 in Waupaca, Wisconsin by Rev. Dr. Carlson.

    		 Attended Dana College, Blair, Nebraska.

    1929 - 1930
    		 Attended Capital University, Bexley, Ohio.

    1931 - 1933
    		 Attended Trinity Seminary in Blair, Nebraska.

    1933 - 1938
    		 Pastor at Emmaus Lutheran Church in McNabb, Illinois.

    1938 - 1947
    		 Pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Brorson Danish Evangelical Lutheran of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Brorson changed its name to Trinity Lutheran Church during Rev. Bertelsen's pastorate.

    1947 - 1950
    		 Pastor at Tinity Lutheran Church, Rutland, Iowa and Trinity Lutheran Church, Humboldt, Iowa.

    1950 - 1963
    		 Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kankakee, Illinois.

    1963
    		 Retired from active ministry. Served as visitation pastor in Harlan, Iowa with Oscar Johnson.
